What is the leagal age to possess a machine gun or rifle class 3?
I know you must be 18 for rifles semi, and 21 for weapons hand, but how old do you have to be own a machine gun?
You must be 21 to buy any NFA weapon from a dealer authorized. However, if the purchase is a private sale, (not through an intermediary) ATF will approve a transfer form 4 to anyone over the age of 18 years if all other requirements are met. Not all transfers must be through a dealer. If the buyer and seller are residents of the same state, then you can transfer the gun directly on a form 4 without going through a dealer.
