Which one is more environmentally friendly? Using a lighter or matches?
For matches you need to plant trees, consume the soil, cut down the trees, process them and produce the chemicals on the tip of it, which causes a match to burn. manufacturing phase needs a decent amount of energy. That’s not all, when some one uses a match, certain gases are released.
When it comes to using lighters: lighter fluid is made of fossil fuels. When you light it, you produce some environmentally hazardous gases also. So there is that. In addition to that, the manufacturing of a disposable lighter that is made of plastic causes some amount of damage on the environment.
Could some one please give me an answer, or write a thesis or something on this please?
They dont cut down trees specifically to make matches, they use the scrap wood that cannot be made into anything else.
Though they make lighters from new material in order to make lighters therefore using more energy to mold and use plastic, releasing more chemicals in the air.
So, without writing a massive paper on this..
Matches are more environmentally friendly since they use scrap in order to use all the wood that were sacrificed in the cutting down of the tree.
