Complete Kit

Complete Kit
Contents of a COMPLETE reloading kit?

I am looking for a complete reloading kit for 9mm and 38 hand gun bullets. What are all the parts I would need or what are some sites for a complete kit that contains everything but doesn’t cost and arm and a leg?

Lee (leeprecision.com) makes a starter kit for around $100. RCBS, Hornady, Lyman & Redding also make kits for a lot more money. Sure, they’re better kits. But at this point, you don’t know what better means. You won’t until you get your feet wet.

I started out with this kit and for the money you get to learn how to reload. Granted, you will replace some of the cheaper parts, but having no experience you don’t know where to splurge and where to save money. Once you learn, you will likely want things like a better scale and a better priming kit. The press alone is worth $100, the bonus is you get all the other “starter” parts for free.

You will have to buy a die set for each caliber (about $30 ea.) and a bunch of components to include; primers, powder, cases & bullets. You might easily spend another $150 on components. You can save the most money reloading rifle cartridges, which I do for about 1/3 the price and probably about half on pistol cartridges.

You’re also likely to need a reloading manual, which includes thousands of recipes. I like the Hornady manual which you can get at Powder Valley for about $25. You will also need a few other odds and ends like a digital calipers for $25.

I’m enthusiastic about helping beginners. If you want email me – art at artpreusser dot com.
